On Sat, May 3rd, some of Families Giving Back’s founding and veteran volunteer families were invited to pack produce and snack food boxes at St. Mary’s Food Bank. This was a significant event for both organizations, as it was the first time in St. Mary’s Food Bank’s long history (the world’s first food bank) that they allowed volunteers under the age of 12! As we’ve done at all our volunteer events, Families Giving Back volunteers again proved that even the smallest hands can make a huge difference in our community. In less than an hour’s time, our group of volunteers packed 312 produce boxes and 126 snack food boxes! St. Mary’s Food Bank was blown away by what we were able to achieve and we couldn’t be more proud of our volunteers. This “test” event was a huge success and we hope it is the first of many Families Giving Back volunteer events at St. Mary’s Food Bank in the future!
